Starting off with Canadian bloodlines as our foundation, Davenloch has evolved and grown with the introduction of a few key U.S. lines based on the Parader/Glenhill/Tartanside families, undoubtedly some of the best past & current bloodlines in the world. From these lines come the top all time producing sires and dams for the breed.  Furthermore, we have also bred on the foundation of the illustrious sire Am. Ch. Southland's Bowen Island ROM, - Best of Breed - Collie Club of America 2002 by way of utilizing his tightly line bred immediate descendants in our breeding program. 

As referenced earlier, our focus on collie families is based on the Parader bloodlines established by Mr. Stephen Field in the State of Nebraska over 65 years ago. We chose these base lines for their overall vigor, intelligence and beautiful faces that were synonymous with Parader dogs.  This legacy lives on through the hard work of other breeders of the past, right on up to modern day and at Davenloch we are honored and proud to be part of this outstanding legacy!

We are truly dedicated to the health, wellbeing and beauty of the Collie. Through a selective breeding program, we utilize only the best dogs to ensure Collies that are sound in mind & body, and true to  Collie breed type as outlined in the official breed standard.

Davenloch continues today as a source for quality Collies that excel in the areas of beautiful faces & expression, correct head and body structure, balance & temperament, and we continue to strive towards perfection with every breeding that we do.

To us, perfection is a collie that is not only beautiful as a still picture, but also in motion/movement, movement that is effortless and ground covering, with the necessary reach and drive so essential to a herding dog such as  the collie.  At Davenloch we do our utmost to avoid propagating fads and extremes in breeding.  With this being said, the question must be asked, have we attained perfection here?  Of course not!  But we are extremely cognizant of overall “FORM & FUNCTION”.  We strive for the complete collie that will not only grace a home or show ring with exquisite beauty and breed type through correct collie expression and head properties, but also excel at play, performance and natural herding instinct by virtue of correct body structure/movement, and true collie temperament.
Davenloch Collies was established back in 1993 under the guidance of J. David Clarke, in Spruce Grove, Alberta. With the purchase of a lovely sable rough female in 1994 who became Can Ch. Glennloch's Beaming Sun CD we were on our way!

This girl soon found her place as the matriarch who excelled in our home, the show ring, obedience ring and the whelping box, placing as top obedience collie in Alberta in 1995, and sharing the spot of number 2 champion producing collie bitch in Canada for 1997.

Davenloch is located in western Canada, in the Province of Alberta, approximately 3 hours drive east of the spectacular Rocky Mountains. We share 80 acres with our Collie family, our cats and chickens, along with Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf goats and various sheep. Established on some of the worlds’ finest and most sought after bloodlines, today we house on average, 12-15 Collies, that include both rough and smooth. Through our breeding program we have produce top Specialty and All Breed winning Collies both here in North America and internationally, exceptional performance and obedience Collies, as well as wonderful companions that grace the homes of many families. Our Collies are known for their beautiful expression, full rounded muzzles, soundness of body, balance and temperament. We have bred or owned nearly 30 Champions with a majority of these being owner groomed and handled. The breeding and exhibiting of exceptional Collies is not simply a hobby for us, it is a passion. Both David and Shawn also have full time careers outside of Collies keeping this exciting journey very busy along the way.
